Liheng Wang

Liheng Wang is a principal investigator at the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and a Boya Young Scholar at Peking University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Nutritional and Metabolic Biology from Columbia University. Her research focuses on the regulation of glucose and lipid metabolism, particularly the pathogenesis of chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, fatty liver diseases and aging. Dr. Wang has published 20 papers in leading journals in the metabolic field, such as Cell , Nature , Cell Metabolism , Journal of Hepatology , JCI et al . My major findings including: 1) Developed the first in vitro human stem cell model for genetic obesity and successfully utilized this technology to elucidate the pathogenic mechanisms of several genetic obesity disorders; 2) Systematically identified transcription factors involved in the regulation of hepatic glucose metabolism, leading to the discovery of novel pathogenic factors for Type 2 Diabetes (TOX4) and Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (PU.1); 3) Revealed Immunoglobulin G (IgG) as a driving factor for both obesity and aging, demonstrating its role in modulating the decline of metabolic function associated with insulin resistance, chronic inflammation and aging. She is a recipient of several prestigious awards, including the NIH Career Development Award (K01), Regeneron Fellowship, New York Diabetes Center Scientific Exploration Award, Young and a national high-level youth talent award. She has been invited to deliver oral presentations at notable international and domestic conferences, including Keystone Symposia, Cold Spring Harbor Asia Meetings, the Chinese American Diabetes Association Annual Meeting, the Chinese American Liver Association Annual Meeting, and the Chinese Biophysical Society Metabolism Section Annual Meeting. Dr. Wang is a member of various academic organizations, including the Chinese Physiological Society Endocrinology and Metabolism Committee, the Lipids and Lipoproteins Youth Committee of the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the Chinese American Diabetes Association, and the Chinese American Liver Association. She also serves as ad hoc reviewer for several prestigious journals, such as Cell Metabolism , Immunity , Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) , Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B , Science Bulletin , Cells , Cell & Bioscience , and Life Sciences .
